Your job as a volunteer is simple! Greet people as they arrive at the museum. If Ensor Park and Museum Manager is busy giving a tour you will watch over them until they are available to start another tour. The idea is to have 3 people staffing the museum so as to ensure the museum is not left unattended while tours are being given.
If you are new to the JCRAC and/or Ensor Park and Museum, No Problem. If you like you can stop by Ensor and see what's going on before you volunteer.
There is plenty of ham radio history at the museum and if things are slow you can walk around and take in that history. You are also welcome to use the equipment in the radio room off the country kitchen!
****ALL volunteers that sign up will be entered into a drawing for a $100 Gift Certificate to Associated Radio. Volunteer multiple times and you will be entered multiple times.****
Winners of the 2 - $250 Gift Certificates to Schulman Auction were John Raydo, K0IZ and Tim Wiegman, KB0YQN. The winner of the $500 Gift Certificate to Associated Radio was William Pixler, KF0URS.

With the summer heat behind us, October brings cooler weather and better radio conditions. I hope you’ve all had a chance to get on the air and enjoy some of the recent band openings. The cooler temperatures make those antenna projects a lot more comfortable, so I encourage you all to get out there and get your station ready for the winter months ahead.
I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who pitched in for the fall public service season. Your dedication to assisting local events, both large and small, is a great representation of our club and the amateur radio community. A special thanks to our net control operators who keep our nets lively and informative throughout the year. Speaking of nets, I invite all members to chick in and say hello on our Thursday 145.29 MHz net and our Wednesday Fusion nets. We’re always happy to hear new voices and see new faces.
As we move into October, we have some great opportunities ahead. Our club is responsible for providing volunteer support at the Ensor Park and Museum during the month of October, as mentioned in previous newsletters. This is a fantastic chance to represent JCRAC, meet the public, and showcase our great hobby. Please look for the sign-up request from Ted and consider volunteering for a slot or two.
This month’s auction is scheduled for Saturday, October 18. This is a great opportunity to find a new-to-you piece of gear and clear out some of your unused equipment. Start looking through your shacks now for anything you’d like to donate and mark your calendars for the auction.
In addition, our next meetings for October have changed due to the ARRL convention and the Ensor auction. Friday, October 17 will be at the Ensor Park and Museum the day before auction. The business meeting will be on fourth Friday, October 24 back at Overland Park Christian Church.
